Community Revival  10-13-00       		Acts 17:16-34    			 
	The Bible gives the details of the life of one Paul.. converted to Christ.. became a mighty 
force for God.  A traveling preacher who started churches in strategic places in Asia, Galatia, 
Macedonia, Achaia.. Roman provinces of the day. Paul was at Athens, Greece.. waiting for his friends 
from the north.. while waiting he engaged Jews, devout people, and philosophers.. Epicureans..(seeking 
happiness or pleasure as the primary goal of life) and Stoics.. (placed thinking above feeling, tried 
to live in harmony with nature and reason and tried to suppress their desires for pleasure) 
	These people were so religious.. having many gods.. (as today) it was a university town..  
gods of mythology; god of medicine; god of wine; even a god to oblivion; and the "unknown god".  
Paul began with their desire to Know God.. and told them about this "unknown" God... 

I.  HE IS THE GOD WHO CREATES.. 
  A. He made the worlds.. (that's an "unknown" god today..) 
  B. He created the heavens and the earth & everything else.. 
    1. Those who deny... are simply trying to hide from Him 
  C. He gives life and breath.. 25 
    1. It is in Him we live and move and have our being.. 28 
  D. He has made of one blood all nations of men... 26 
  E. He is Sovereign and in control.. 24 "Lord of heaven & earth" 
    1. He is alive.. not like gold, silver, stone.. carved by man's abilities.. 29 
II.  HE IS THE GOD WHO SAVES.. 
  A. What Does That Mean??  Penalty, Power, Presence of sin... 
    1. Mankind is in a lost, sinful, hopeless condition 
	- "dead in trespasses & sins" 
	- "without the hope of God.. in God's world"  Eph.2:12 
	- "blind"  2Cor.4:4; Eph.4:18 
	- "lost"..  Mt.18:11 2. Mankind NEEDS an outside POWER to change his life 
	   - This God who saves.. can be known.. He wants you to know Him 
	   - This God who saves.. is available.. if you seek Him..  27 
	   - This God who saves.. is not far from any of us... (at the door) 
  B. How Does He Save? 
    1. He loves you and me... and made provision... 
    2. He sent His "uniquely" begotten Son.. Jn.3:16 
    3. He demonstrated that love... Ro.5:8 
	- By allowing Jesus to die for us all!!  2Cor.5:21 
    4. He demonstrated His Power... 
	- Jesus Died to pay our "sin debt" 
	- Jesus Rose again.. to forgive us our sins 
	- Jesus Will forgive (save us) whosoever will... Rev.22:17 
	   - Repent.. Believe.. Receive.. Jn.1:11,12; Rev.3:20 
III.  HE IS THE GOD WHO WILL JUDGE.. 
  A. He Will Judge The World (of people) in Righteousness.. 
    1. We will not face Zeus or Hermes or Apollo or Venus etc. 
    2. We will face Him.. the ONE who died for us and rose again 
	- It is appointed unto man once to die.. then the judgment.  He.9:27 
	- We will face Him.. 
	   - Either ALONE.. no mediator, no Savior, no Acceptable Righteousness, no excuse
	    - OR.. With Christ.. the One Who Paid My Debt..
 ** NOTICE THE RESPONSE...32-34.. when Paul mentioned the resurrection 
	- Some mocked & some procrastinated.. 
	   - Either one is unbelief and rejection... and LOSTNESS 
	- Some Believed.. saved.. forgiven.. brought into the Family of God
 ** WILL YOU COME TO THIS "UNKNOWN" BUT KNOWABLE GOD? 
	- ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR NEED... 
	- BELIEVE IN HIS SON.. AND HIS WAY..   Jn.14:1-6 
	- COME TO HIM NOW.. IN REPENTANCE and FAITH..
