POLITICAL BABYLON DESTROYED              	Pastor Bob Chroninger

	The picture in chapter 17 is the destruction of the False church that gains power and 
"rules" during the first half of Daniel's 70th week.  John saw the "evil woman" sitting on a 
"scarlet colored beast" which is the antichrist and his ten "kings" (17:12)  And these ten 
kings will destroy the false religious system. (17:16)  And God puts it in their hearts to do
so. (17:17) 
	Now.. in chapter 18 we have a picture of the destruction of the political Babylon.  It is
the "new world order" that is rapidly developing. 
I.  THE PARTICIPATION.. 
  A. Involves All Nations.. 3  All kings;  All merchants.. 
  B. Involves Incredible Wickedness.. 
    1. Great wealth.. though money of itself is not evil... 
	- Many becoming rich on the sinfulness of mankind.. 
	- UN.. pressuring nations to legalize prostitution (World 6-17-00) 
	   - Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Twenty reports 
           from 1998 - 2000 "targeted traditional understandings of family and morality." 
    2. Great Sins.. reached unto heaven.. 5  (Gen.18:20) 
	- Cry of Sodom and Gomorrah..  sin is very grievous 
	- Vermont Supreme Court has voted to give same benefits to sodomites as to traditional families.. 
	- Mainline churches battling the pressures of same sex "unions" 
	   - American Baptist Church of the Northwest  (World 6-17-00) 
	   - Presbyterian Church USA 
	   - Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.. voted to "bless them" 
	   - Methodists.. a battle in Cleveland this month.. "stood by its position that homosexual
           practice is incompatible with Christian teaching." 
II.  THE PLAGUES.. 
  A. A Warning To Believers of That Time.. 
    1. They are being pressured to take the mark of the beast (13:16,17) 
    2. They are warned... "Don't Do It!" 
	- Come out of that system.. 
	   Don't partake of her sins.. greed, lust, power, society's standards.. 
	   - Lest you receive of her plagues..
 ** Good Instruction For Now Too!! 
  B. A Warning To The System.. 
    1. Her sins have reached to heaven.. 5   (we are rapidly approaching these levels Now!)
	- There is unrestrained sex.. 18:3  
	- There is total rejection of the One True God.. 3  
	- There is excessive luxury.. 3 
	- There is devotion to spiritism and occult..  2 
	- There is self elevation and extreme pride... 7 
	- There is uncaring bloodshed..  18:24 
    2. Her "reward" is to be doubled.. 6 .. "treasuring up..." Ro.2:5 
	- She has filled her cup with evil... fill it double.. 
	- She has glorified herself.. lived deliciously..7 in splendor.(13:5-8) 
    3. Her plagues will come in one day..  8; one hour.. 8,10,17,19 
	- The seventh bowl judgment.. 15:1 
	- Death, mourning, famine.. 
	- Utterly burned.. 8, 9, 18 
    4. Her Admirers are saddened.. 9, 10 
	- The kings.. shall bewail & lament for her.. - Note.. in 17.. the 10 kings are the destroyers! 
	- The merchants.. shall weep and mourn  14-16 
	   - No more "global economy"..  11 
	   - No more "luxury"..  12,13 
	- The shipmasters..  17.. had been made rich.. 19 
	   - Cried.. 18.. not because of sin!.. but for the destruction! 
	   - Cast dust on their heads.. 19 

III.  THE POWER... 
  A. It Is The Lord God Who Judges Her.. 8 
    1. Her Destruction comes In one hour... sudden and complete 
    2. Her great riches are nothing !!  17a (better lay some up in Heaven.. Mt.6:19-21) 
	- She is made desolate.. 19 b 
    3. Her destruction has come from God.. He paid her back..  20 
  B. It Is A Mighty Angel Who Demonstrates It..  21 
    1. By throwing a great millstone into the sea.. 
    2. By saying.. 
	- With violence will that great city be destroyed.. 
	- All music stopped.. 22.. harpers, musicians, pipers, trumpeters 
	- All craftsmanship stopped.. no matter what the craft.. 
	- All business stopped.. no more sound of the mill stone 
	- All is darkness... lights put out..  23 
	- All wedding plans are over.. 
  C. It Is Deserved.. 
    1. Her sorceries deceived all nations..  (pharmakia) 
    2. Her hands are bloodied.. with the prophets, saints & all the slain. 

BOY.. ARE WE IN THE LAST DAYS... OR WHAT!!! 
    ARE YOU READY TO MEET THE LORD... HAVE YOU TURNED FROM SIN 
       AND TURNED TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ??? 	 HE IS OUR ONLY HOPE !!! 

	ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR SINFUL CONDITION TODAY   (Luke 13:1-5)
	BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST... RECEIVE HIM  (Acts 16:31; John 1:11,12)
	CONFESS JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR..    (Romans 10:9-13)
