	Did it all "just happen"?  Or is there a super power and mind behind 
      it all?  I believe the latter.... and that The God of the Bible is 
      that power and intelligence. He is the ONE who established the 
      family... and for good reasons.  It is basic for the stability of
      society as a whole and the stability of each individual.. To Properly
      Determine the Destiny.... 
I.  THE FAMILY MUST TEACH DILIGENTLY... Deut.6:1 
  A. Why Teach Diligently 
    1. That you might "do" them... vs. 1 
    2. That you might "fear" the Lord.. 2 
    3. That your days might be prolonged.. 2 b 
	- that it might be well for you & you might increase...3 
  B. What To Teach Diligently..  vs.4,5 
    1. Commandments .. laws, ordinances, precepts 
    2. Statutes  -  principles, and practices.. 
    3. Judgments - what is right and what is wrong... by God's standards
	- how to live.. not just how to make a living 
  C. How To Teach Diligently.. 
    1. Personally...Love the Lord With ALL Your Heart... first... 5 
    2. Diligently... regularly, consistently, purposefully 
    3. Naturally... talk about.. when you walk, sit, lie down, get up
    4. Strategically... on your hand, between your eyes, on door posts 
II.  THE FAMILY MUST TRAIN PROPERLY...   Proverbs 22:6 
  A. "Train" them... initiate discipline... 
    1. Discipline may be administered in a variety of ways... 
    2. But.. a proper "spanking" is not out of the question.. yet..
  	- I didn't misbehave because I got a spanking... I got a spanking 
        because I misbehaved. 
	- How you spank is important... "if parents use it as an occasional 
        backup for, say, a time-out, and as a part of discipline in the 
        context of a loving relationship, then an occasional spanking can
  	  have a beneficial role."

  B. Train them in the "way".. teach a child the right way to go.. 
  C. Train them in the way the "should" go.. 
    1. According to their "bent" 
      - personality, temperament... shy, aggressive, nervous, calm 
    2. Don't try to force them into "your mold" 
      - too many parents try to "achieve" through their children..                                                                                                                                                       3. Do "bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" 
III.  THE FAMILY MUST "LOVE TOUGH".. 
  A. Look at God's dealings with us... 
    1. As many as He loves.. He rebukes and chastens.. repent..  Rev.3:19 
    2. For whom the Lord loves He chastens... Heb.12:11 
  B. Look at God's Instructions to us... Titus 2:4,5 
    1. Say what you mean... mean what you say... Mt.5:37 
    2. Make reasonable rules... and stick with them or adjust them 
    3. Be firm.... but shower them with love.  Even God... Ro.5:5 
IV.  THE FAMILY MUST MODEL CORRECTLY.. 
  A. We learn more by experience and example than by exhortation! 
    1. Lois and Eunice... 2Tim.1:5; 3:15 (importance of the Word) 
    2. Paul.. "showed you and taught you"  Acts 20:20 
    3. Too many Dads... "don't do as I do... do as I tell you" 
  B. We learn together.... emphasis on "household" salvation. 
    1. Cornelius.. Acts 10:2; 11:14.. Peter telling the Apostles 
    2. Lydia.. Acts 16:15 
    3. Philippian jailer.. Acts 16:31-34 
	- "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and your 
         house" !!! 
	OH FOR DADS AND MOMS WHO ARE TRULY INTERESTED IN 
		DETERMINING THE DESTINY OF THEIR FAMILIES !!
