A MAN WITH A MISSION                 	Pastor Bob Chroninger 
Trinity C.U.  1-16-00 P.M.   		Revelation 10:1-11    
	The 10th chapter begins an interlude (10:1-11:14) to let us catch our breath.  It is still
 a part of the second woe.  John is old... John is exiled... John is given this Marvelous Revelation
 of Jesus Christ and along with it... an encouraging mission... 

I.  HE IS GIVEN A MESSAGE TO BE DESIRED.. 
  A. John Had Been With Jesus  3 1/2 years... 
  B. John Had Heard Jesus' Teachings.. 
  C. John Had Been Involved In Jesus' Miracles.. 
  D. John Now Is Learning of The Coming of Jesus..  Acts 1:8 
    1. There is a Mighty Angel.. 
	- The cloud represents judgment 
	- The Rainbow represents mercy and promise 
	- His face shone as the sun
	- His feet as pillars of fire 
    2. There Was The Little Book in His hand 
	- He set his right foot on the sea.. left on the earth 
	- He cried with a loud voice.. great voice.. 
	- As when a lion roareth 
	- And Seven thunders uttered their voices.. John was about to write.. "NO" seal it up.. 
	- He Made a startling statement.. 
	   - An Oath.. vs6  that "time should be no longer" No More Delay! 
	   - A Promise..vs 7.. "that the mystery of God should be finished" 
II.  HE IS GIVEN A MESSAGE TO BE DEVOURED..
 ** A little book in the angel's hand.. (the scroll of ch. 5 ?) 
  A. "Take and Eat It" 
    1. Accept it.. devour it.. Ps.19:10; Jer.15:16; Ezek.3:1-3 
  B. Enjoy Its Sweetness... 
    1. To The Believer The Word is.. sweeter than honey; more to be desired; food for the soul; 
	milk to produce growth; meat to produce maturity; living water to quench our thirst 
    2. The Believer Should.. build himself up in it.. 
	- It is light to our feet.. encouragement.. 
	- It is a message of victory over sin & death & hell !! 
  C. Be Aware Of Its Bitterness.. 
    1. There is a tension between... a longing for the coming of Christ and the danger of Judgment
	upon the unbelieving multitude 
    2. Thus.. it becomes bitter in the stomach.. because of the judgments proclaimed upon the unbeliever 
 ** So.. no one can truly "eat" this book without having the passion for the next step.... 
III.  HE IS GIVEN A MESSAGE TO BE DECLARED..  10:11 
 - Remember.. John is exiled.. old.. receiving this revelation... 
  A. He Must Prophecy again.. perhaps released for a while.. 
  B. He Must Prophecy "widely".. 
    1. Before many.. peoples, nations, tongues, kings ! 
  C. He Must Prophecy Persistently... 
    1. His writings have outlived the rise and fall of many powers! 
 ** Certainly.. an exhortation to all believers of our evangelistic responsibility to warn our world today! 

THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH IS TO GO WITH THE GOSPEL.. TO MAKE DISCIPLES.. 
	EVERYWHERE... EVERYONE (WHOSOEVER WILL)... ALL THE TIME.. 
		UNTIL JESUS COMES AGAIN !!
