THE "SEVENTY SEVENS" of DANIEL            	Pastor Bob Chroninger
Trinity C.U. 8-1-99 P.M.    		Daniel 9:1-27     	 
	Last week we compared Nebuchadnezzar's dream in chapter 2 with Daniel's dream in 
chapter 7.  I believe it is clear that they both present the same prophetic truth about Gentile
world dominion until the Second coming of Christ.  In chapter 8 Daniel "sees" more about that 
subject. 
	In Daniel 9... he prays for understanding about the end of the 70 year captivity... and 
learns a great deal more... He learns of the "Seventy Sevens" which is the "backbone of prophecy". 
I.  HIS SOURCE.. 
  A. The Word of the Lord.. as it came to Jeremiah (25:11; 29:10) 
II.  HIS SUPPLICATION..  3.. 
  A. He Was Determined.. "set his face" to find out about the 70 yrs. 
  B. He Was Definite.. 4 
    1. He made his confession...   "we have sinned" (we.. not they) 
    2. He recognized his confusion.. 8 
	- You are righteous Lord... 7; We are disobedient..  10 
    3. He realized the curse.. of Moses was on them.. 11, 12 
    4. He prayed for the restoration of Jerusalem.. 16-19 (have mercy) 
III.  HIS "SATISFACTION"..  20 
  A. It Came While He Was Praying.. 20 
  B. It Came By Gabriel.. 21 
    1. "He touched me".. 
    2. "He informed me"..  (I have come to give you skill & understanding) 
  C. It Came In The Form of "Seventy Sevens" (instead of 70 years) 
    1. Seventy Sevens (weeks) are DETERMINED upon THY PEOPLE & THY HOLY CITY.
	 (at this point.. either Jew or Gentile) (THY PEOPLE is definitely JEW)
	a) To finish the transgression.. (rebellion of man against God) 
	   - it will rise to its pinnacle in this last week 
	   - it will be brought to a "completion"... Finished!! 
	b) To make an end of sins.. (similar to above, but...) 
	   - more general... missing the mark.. immorality 
	   - a new society will be brought in.. righteousness will prevail!
	c) To make reconciliation for iniquity.. (atone for wickedness) 
	   - points to the crucifixion.. 
	   - this ushered in the final stage before the establishment of the fifth kingdom... 2:35,44 
	   - the "last days" began at the birth of the church (Acts 2:16,17) 
	d) To bring in everlasting righteousness.. 
	   - an order of society conformed to the standards of Scripture 
	e) To "seal" up the vision & prophecy (same word as "end" of sins) 
	   - the fulfillment of the vision.. God's plan for the ages 
	f) To anoint the Most Holy..  (Holy of Holies) 
	   - consecration of the temple of the Lord... (millennial.. Ezek.40-44) 
 ** Except for (c), these all culminate in the "Revelation" of Jesus at the end of the Tribulation.
	Zechariah 14:4; 1Thes.1:7-10; Rev.19:11-21
    2. Seventy Weeks are DEFINED.. 25-27 
	- There are "seven sevens" = 49 years  (seven weeks of years) 
	   - from the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.. (445 BC)? 
	   - the street build in troubled times... Neh. Haggai, Zechariah
	- There are "sixty two sevens" = 434 years + 49 years = 483 years.  Dan.9:25,26; Zech.9:9
	    (483 years until Messiah the prince..) After these 62 weeks... 
	   - Messiah will be "cut off".. crucifixion..  Mt.21:1-11
		- Jesus was rejected by His own...(prophetic time clock stopped) 
	   - People (of the prince that shall come).. (Romans) 
		- shall destroy the city & sanctuary.. AD 70 under Titus 
  ** There is a "gap" between 69 & 70.. a gap that includes the entire Church Age. 
    (The Church Age Was NOT Revealed To Daniel)
	- There is "one seven" = one week left..  27 
	- The prince that shall come... is the Antichrist.. 
	- The prince shall make a covenant for one week (seven years)
	- The prince shall confirm it for one week..(Daniel's 70th week) 
	- The prince shall break the covenant.. 27 
	   - in the middle of the "week" = 3 1/2 years 
	   - he shall cause the sacrifice to cease.. 

  **	This will be the "time of Jacob's trouble"  Jer.30:4-11 
	This will be the time Israel "shall pass under the rod" Ezek.20:34-38 
	This will be the time "God will cast Israel into His melting pot"
		 Ezek.22:17-22; Zech.13:8,9; Mal.3:1-6 
	This will be the time Jesus spoke about... Mt.24:9-22 (last 3 1/2 yrs) 
	This will be the time revealed to John.. Revelation 6:1-19:21 in the breaking 
		of the seals, blowing of the trumpets, and the pouring of the vials of the
		wrath of Almighty God! 
	BE READY... OR BE "RUINED".. 
THE CHOICES YOU MAKE NOW WILL DETERMINE THE RESULT LATER ON !!
